Philips to pick up more recycling costs

Electronics manufacturer also begins work on global take-back scheme

Electronics manufacturer Philips has announced that it will begin incorporating the cost of recycling its products into the product price instead of charging a fixed fee, which effectively returns more of the recycling costs to the company instead of the consumer. Philips is also beginning to create a global take-back system for its own electronic waste, even in countries where laws do not require such a system. Greenpeace praised the move, indicating it would likely improve the company’s ranking in the upcoming Guide to Greener Electronics.
