Manchester law firm Pannone has strengthened its construction and projects team with the appointment of partner Simon Foy.

Foy has extensive experience in the energy, waste and PFI sectors and joins Pannone from Australian waste processing company Global Renewables where he was general counsel. He was in private practice at Simmons & Simmons and DLA Piper where he advised on many infrastructure, energy and PFI projects and was also the European legal director at US power company Edison Mission Energy.

Former Carter advisor, author and energy guru S. David Freeman will become the 'Environmental Mayor' of L.A.

Freeman helped shape the energy policy of the Carter era, and by funding the first wave of research into solar and wind technologies in the early 70's helped to kick-start the renewable energy industry.

One of his first projects will be to revive a narrowly defeated solar energy plan for the city. Freeman is the man credited with putting solar panels on the White House.

OriginOil the developer of a technology to transform algae, into a competitor to petroleum, completed the appointment of Dheeban Kannan, as senior research engineer.

Kannan recently completed his doctoral program at Pennsylvania State University, where he studied biofuel technologies.

Miodrag (Mike) Andric has been appointed by Star Alternative Energy the wind energy company as the company's newest Director and Chairman of the Board.

Andric has an extensive background in renewable energy systems. His alternative energy experience encompasses projects from around world and he will focus his talents on guiding Green Star through their new strategic plan.

Octus Energy the cleantech commercialisation specialists announced this month that John Argo had joined as Director, Energy Projects & Finance.

As Director of Energy Projects & Finance, Argo will lead development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects for commercial and public sector organisations, focused on capitalizing energy creation and energy conservation. He will also create and manage industry collaborations and Octus's energy project financing solutions.


This month Trevor Bourne, the founder and chief executive officer of Global Ethanol joined the waste-to-energy firm, EcoSystem’s Board.

Bourne has extensive chemical processing and industrial construction experience, as well as significant depth in early-stage technology and company development having held senior management positions for WMC Resources, Thiess Pty, and Multiplex
Engineering.

Ice Energy, a provider of distributed energy storage and smart grid solutions for optimizing energy system efficiency, has hired John McGee as Chief Operating Officer.

McGee has broad management and operational experience in the commercial, energy and industrial sectors, will oversee the company's commercial operations and the deployment of its energy storage and smart grid technologies.

McGee most recently served as COO at Union Switch & Signal (US&S) in Pittsburgh.

John Beakes, Jr has joined the advisory board of New Energy Technologies, the next-generation alternative and renewable energy developer, in order to further advance the development of the company's technology for generating electricity from otherwise wasted energy created by cars in motion.

Beakes has years of experience in engineering projects having previously served as President and Co-Founder of RWD Technologies and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of General Physics.

Renewables developer, American Environmental Energy (AEEI), has announced the appointment of William McManes to the Board of Directors.

McManes brings many years of executive management experience in small - high growth, mid-sized and fortune 1000 companies in the technology sector where he has led sales, distribution channels, and strategic business development.

PetroSun announced today that Victor Nee, has accepted a seat on the diversified energy company's newly formed Advisory Board.

The Advisory Board will serve the executive management and Board of Directors by strengthening the company's position in regulatory compliance, financial matters and the scale-up to the commercialization of its algae-to-biofuels operations.

As a member of the Advisory Board, Nee will assist the company in identifying sustainable and renewable business opportunities in China and elsewhere.

Max Walenciak has been promoted by Nevada Geothermal Power to Vice President of Development and Operations.

Walenciak has been the Manager of Geothermal Project Development for NGP since May 2007 and has been principally responsible for the successful development and construction of the 50 megawatt 'Faulkner 1' geothermal power plant.

International law firm SJ Berwin has promoted environmental lawyer Angus Evers to the partnership.

Evers, who joined SJ Berwin’s Planning and Environment Group in October 2007 has particular expertise in the energy and infrastructure sectors and has advised clients including operators and developers of power stations and wind farms.

China

Suntech Power Holdings, the world's largest manufacturer of crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules, has appointed Susan Wang to its Board of Directors.

Wang formerly served as the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief Financial Officer for Solectron Corporation. Prior to Solectron, Wang held financial and managerial positions with Xerox Corporation and Westvaco Corporation.
