UK government funds Toyota plug-in hybrid test

The UK government's Technology Strategy Board awards Toyota and EDF Energy funding to test 20 zero emissions plug-in hybrid vehicles

As part of the TSB's Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator Competition, the UK government announced this week it was awarding eight companies funding for testing of low carbon emissions vehicles. Amongst those companies is Toyota, who announced that they are using the funding to test 20 plug-in hybrid cars in urban and common use settings. The test cars are powered by an ion battery. The test period is expected to last three years starting in 2010.
