Organic cotton market grows 63%

Report shows textile and apparel market for organic cotton has reached $3.2 billion

Global sales of organic cotton apparel and textiles totaled $3.2 billion in 2008, showing an increase of 63% from a $1.9 billion market in 2007, says the Organic Cotton Market Report from nonprofit Organic Exchange. Wal-Mart, C&A, Nike, and H&M were the top brands and retailers using organic cotton, which is grown without the use of toxic pesticides or genetically-modified seeds.
